Re: [11q_disorders] Re: ADD Meds

Linzee,

We tried Ritalin for only a short time.  At first the teachers thought they noticed a difference -- but I think it was just that she was more laid back as it was only 5 mg. As it increased, she became more edgy (things would startle her that didn't before).  We only got up to about 10mg. I was concerned with the appetite loss with Morgan already so tiny.  Then we tried Strattera -- again starting slow.  She just wasn't her normal bubbly self and I wasn't seeing a big enough pay off -- though again we were on such a low dose.   As she got older and we found a calmer environment in class with typical peers, and teachers and aide gave her positive reinforcement -- her attention improved.  She still can get distracted, but has improved and hasn't been on meds for several years.
