My daughter , Courtney, has entered the great stage of puberty. She is 16. She started her period a few years ago but her health became so poor that they stopped. ( She had a heart transplant in Dec. 2005) She's recently started her period again. They are very irregular and can last weeks at a time. Depending on the severity of the platelet dysfunction of your daughter, the periods could be bad--- or good. Courtney's platelet issues are minor compared to many other JS children. Until Courtney had the heart transplant, we had talked about having her on birth control to limit the number of periods--not that she will be sexually active. Courtney can become slightly anemic during her periods- so watch out for that too.
Best of luck with your daughter-- try to not worry about this stage until it comes. Enjoy her childhood while you can.

I was wondering if any of the older girls have/had problems w/periods,
etc. and how parents approached the subject. I'm not sure what Lillian
will/ won't understand and I am starting to worry. Actually this is
starting to scare the crap out of me- holy cow she's 10!!! That sure
went fast.My 13yrd. old just started this year and the way things are
developing , and with the JS,it could be any time- things don't happen
on any ordinary timeline with Lily!!! Thanks in advance for ANY help!
