You are more than welcome! And remember - I DO understand what you are feeling.Cheryl in
Los Angeles
I guess my fear is not knowing what will happen,
I'm not an expert but you can probably count on one of 3 things happening:
- it'll be suggested that the mole be removed
- you'll be told to watch it
- you'll be told not to worry
or how much pain is involved with the removal
To be honest, I really doubt there would be any pain other than the second it takes to get a local anesthetic - and even if there was post-op pain, I'm sure any OTC med would take care of that quickly.
It's mainly fear of the unknown.
Although you still do not know exactly what will happen, I'm sure you can narrow it down to a few things - not a whole spectrum of possibilities which makes it seem overwhelming.
Also fear of not being respected--
This is very important!!! I would venture to say that your doctor will respect you - as a human being and as his/her patient however I do know that this is probably the main reason I have such issues with doctors - because of some past experience. If you don't feel respected when you go in, leave and find another doctor.
Have you seen this doctor before?
Also, I have had girlfriends that after they have gone through natural childbirth still say that getting wisdom out was worse across the board - so, I think since you survived that - you'll do fine with this visit!
which is what I've had to deal with most of my life. I guess the only way to get over the fear is to just go and get it over with. But my mind just won't let me rest. I think I'm over-reacting, in fact I know I am. When I had to get my wisdom teeth taken out many years ago, I was horribly frightened, and that turned out ok. I just wish I could focus on something else for awhile.
