I applaud your coming here and for making the appointment! Already you're probably way ahead of where I'd be if I were in your shoes! I empathize and certainly understand your worry.
However, it not being "me," I can probably dole out some sage suggestions although it's doubtful I'd ever listen to my own advice. :O)
- It sounds like this is a relatively "new" situation and you have that on your side.
- From people I know, removal of growths such as a mole is not a big surgical deal - usually done in the office on an out patient basis.
What are your specific fears?
Can you take someone with you with whom you are really comfortable with?
I understand and I care.

Subject: [000-Fear-Of-Doctors] I'm new
My name is Ellen. I'm new to the group, and have a serious fear of
doctors. I have a mole on my arm that I need to have looked at, and
I'm terrified of what will happen as far as whether I'll need surgery
to remove it or not. My appointment isn't until September 4th, and
I'm already going nuts with worry. Any suggestions? Thanks.
