Hello. I know from past experience the unrelenting pain of a tooth
despite x-rays showing otherwise! I'm glad that the x-rays don't
show an absess/infection (I just had one and had to get root canal
last week in fact), but the pain can still be such an annoyance and
distraction. Like the previous postee said, your dentin of the
tooth is probably exposed. And that doesn't sound like such an off-
idea to talk to your dentist about getting root canals (done by an
Endotontist/root canal specialist) if the pain is that bad and
there's no clinical problem found such as an absess. It may be
costly, but you've already spent more than enough money to relieve
your tooth pain. Root canals can generally cost up to $2,000 each
tooth as far as I know, but it's all about quality of life.
In the meantime, like the other person said, Oragel (and ambesol)
tend to really just burn the area, but a OraBase is supposed to be a
better product. I believe that it comes in cream and can be used in
place of the oragel or other numbing gel until you decide on your
next move. Just fyi, I've notice that with absesses, that the pain
is in the tooth along with the jaw, feeling like TMJ. I know that
it didn't show anything on your x-ray but just for general info.
Please let us know how you're doing! Take good care, Aimee
