Tina,
It's a shame to hear that you have such a fear of the dentist. I am
a dental assistant, and I work at a practice that "caters to
cowards." The dentist is one of those cowardly patients, so we can
sympathize with your concerns. We have all sorts of options, from
laughing gas, to headphones, to conscious sedation dentistry (you
sleep through the entire visit, but are able to respond to us if we
need you to... open, close, do you need to use the ladies room,
etc.). There are also offices who do I.V. sedation and put you out
completely. You can check out ou website, www.cent4dent.com to find
out more about the options we offer, and if we aren't in your area,
you can be more informed about what you want (and NEED) from a local
dentist. Good luck, and don't let your fear doom you to a life of
toothaches and dentures! There are people who care!!! Try
www.ihatedentists.com for some more info.
