I too kept putting off getting much needed dental work because I became
pregnant and silver fillings should not be used when a woman is
pregnant. Or, this product should not be used as filling material
because it crosses the placenta and gets to the baby.
The problem can be solved by finding a dentist that takes precautions
when working on teeth that are filled with silver/amalgam which is made
of mercury. One drop of mercury will contaminate the fish in a lake.
(study this issue on your own.)
The problem with more knowledge is that it may confuse you further and
then you will really hold off getting y much needed work done.
So take what you read with a grain of salt, and at least start with the
worst thing first.
Get opinions and quotes first from clinics that are not for profit...and
then go to private practices for the big bomb quote. It sounds like you
need a lot of work.
I got 4 - 5 quotes ranging from $5,000 - $35,000.
Those who said I needed crowns and those who said I did not.
I too would rather give birth. And I have given birth naturally to 2
boys with out drub, or epidural, and I would rather deliver another baby
than deal with dental pain. Freaky huh?
Do it now, today or else a $125 filling can become a $700 crown.
Find a non toxic dentist who is continuing his education and takin the
extra time to be on top of the latest philosophies. Any dentist who does
not acknowledge progress and alternatives in his profession, I would be
suspicious of. After all, this is being debated in congress today.
Also, the faster the fluid comes out of the needle, the more pain is
experienced,. This is what a dentist once told me... and he was right. I
never even knew he gave me the needle. Any one else to this day, I feel
the needle because they just are too fast in injecting the fluid.
But then also think of this,... you are not getting an arm blown off
from a mine going off and with this I say......go in with determination
and see if your tension is what is making your nerves tighten up. Are
you working your self up into anxiety? I would think my dentist is
saving me and he is my champion and will make my mouth kissable very
soon. Think of the end result and you will go into it more excited like
you are finally going to have a new life.
I would try to look somewhere else in the room and pretend I could not
put thoughts together.....like I had alzheimers or something, and
although I felt part of the pain initially....the stress and the tensing
was less so that I can consciously be aware that....Hey, it was not so
bad,,,and I was able to sink into my chair and say....ok.....Next!
Ask to see him do the drilling if he lets you hold the mirror and
pretent that you are the dentist and you are drilling all the rotted
stuff out.
You will be so happy when you see all the bad stuff replaced with white
fillings. The metal just makes you remember how sad you use to be, so
spend the money on the white stuff.

Hello All.
I have a really bad fear of dentists. So if anyone out there knows
some easy way to overcome my fears PALEESE let me know. My teeth are
very bad. Very. I have a lot of missing teeth in the back of my
mouth that basically just fell out because they were rotted. I have
a missing tooth right in the front. My teeth are discolored. For
years I would cry myself to sleep because of how bad my teeth are. I
have had many many toothaches in the past. And trust me, I would
rather give birth to elephants instead of having a toothache. I have
gotten a little braver though. The last dentist I saw was about a
year and a half ago, told me all the work that is required to get me
smiling like Vanna White. I would need all of them cleaned, gum
surgery, extractions, fillings, and implants. I am trying to
overcome the fear. Even those words scare me. I have not truly
smiled in years. I would love to wake up one morning and just smile
my ass off. So again, any suggestions or inspiring stories would be
truly helpful at this point.
Thanks,
Stacy
