That sounds fascinating! I gather the dentist did not mention why he chose composite for you because he did not want to tell you it costs more...the silver or gold does not crack and also does not cause infection or rejection due to plastic material not natural to the tissue...so decide on the silver or gold only if for a molar, porcelain upfront.
Do the best you can with the photos inside your mouth. give me a detailed and close-up view of the bottom and top teeth showing all the fillings and the new cavity. Use good lighting and make sure the pics are clear! Keep the silver...changing them out is only for the dentist to cash in $$$ not for health reasons since studies have been inconclusive as to mercury and ill health effects....do not believe it, it is all bunk...keep those gorgeous teeth in tact as they are.

(No) The silver is actually stronger, more durable and longer
lasting than the composite kind and aruably sexier...so I would
advise keeping them and getting the new cavity filled in silver to
match the others. If the tooth is chipped and is a molar it should
be replaced with silver or gold, otherwise for the front teeth
porcelain is recommended.( the dentist I went to recommended a crown
to cover the tooth, he did not say why but he recommended a
composite type for the crown)

never taken a pic of the inside of my mouth. Might work)
I would rather not have anymore amalgams in for health reasons.
