G and all,
As mentioned before, I just wanted to give a little feedback
regarding a Zero Balancing session I recently had. This being my
first experience with energy work, it was very interesting to say the
least. The practitioner interviewed me for about 45 minutes,
discussing past injuries, traumas, personal and emotional growth
issues, etc. Then the session started by having me walk back and
forth across the room a couple of times, observed standing posture
and fluidity of movement.
I layed face up on the treatment table and he began to perform a
series of joint movements on knees, ankles, arms...applying tension
and a little pressure to various parts of my body....including hips,
shoulders, neck, between ribs, some of what seemed like acupressure
points, and then stopped at times and held the position of tension on
the joint. It was very relaxing, and I could feel myself drifting
into a very relaxed state and noticed that my breathing would change
as he applied the techniques. It would grow from normal to very
shallow and sometimes followed by a deep gasp or a swallow. So I was
just relaxing and noticing what he was doing, and how I was
responding to it. I thought, "OK, it's very relaxing and he seems to
know what he's doing....going through all of the foundation joints in
my body, applying pressure, holding it, releasing it."
During a few of the movements though, involuntarily I felt the
biggest smile come across my face and my entire body just seemed to
melt in joy. Then as he released the hold on my ankle, the smile
departed....only to happen again as he applied the technique to the
other ankle....it was really amazing and very hard to describe...but
it felt as natural as anything ever has...nothing unusual except that
I was absolutely whole and happy with no apparent cause whatsoever.
Then there was when he stood behind me at the head of the table and
placed his hands on my neck and began to apply upward tension against
the base of my skull (occipital), and again I melted in joy and felt
complete.
After the session was finished, it took me a good 5 minutes before I
could even think of getting off the table. Felt like I was in my
body, and everywhere else in the room too. Then I started to come
to, and got up off the table. I tried to explain what had happened
during the session and he commented that "the yogis say that our true
nature is joy." He asked me to do the walk back and forth a couple
of times to see the difference. I tell you, I noticed right away
that something was different. My walk had changed, my sense of
balance had changed, and I asked with a smile, "Do you notice
something different about me? Something has shifted, but I can't put
my finger on it." He said, "You move like you're 'one-ness and
unity'...like you've got a grounded center." And I thought, that's
exactly what it is...I feel centered and balanced, and move like I'm
connected and not separate. So it was a very fulfilling experience.
2 days later, when I was practicing massage on a partner in
class...the instructor commented that my entire being had a look of
(here comes this term again) 'one-ness', and that I had the aura of
wholeness and complete focus. That while I looked a bit mechanical
before, I now seem like I'm occupying space completely and flowing
within it. Even though I hadn't noticed it, it was apparently very
obvious that something had changed.
Anyway, just felt like sharing that. Someone who does this kind of
work may or may not be easy to find in your area, but if this has
intrigued you....I highly recommend a session. As I mentioned, it
being my first experience with energy work, I'm not sure if this kind
of experience is common or not...but thanks for letting me share.
Love and respect,
John
