Hello there Tanmay,

I too am appreciative of our a pleasant dialogue!! :-) I have been a
student of mysticism for many, many years, and have received training and
teachings from many advanced mystics; some of which, it is my contention,
were genuinely enlightened. Further, I have a degree in philosophy, and am
doing post-graduate work in that field.

Most importantly, however, I have been a very diligent student of
meditation, having studied and practiced in many traditions. Primarily in
the non-dual. So I feel it is reasonable to assume that I have a good
intellectual grasp of the issues, and have heard it all before, and MOST
importantly, I have experienced non-dual consciousness (or whatever terms
you want to apply); thus, my views are informed by direct experience, and
not merely opinionative speculation, as Swami G contends. Although, I will
grant her the point, that I am not enlightened, so until I am, we may say
that I am speculating. However, I would say the same of her, as her claim
of enlightenment does not make it so. Further, having attained some direct
realisation of Being myself, my contentions are, I claim, justifiably
informed. As may be hers!!

I agree with Swami G for the most part on all that she says, as I said,
I'e heard it all before; she says nothing new that many apparently
enlightened beings have stated before. In terms of removing the covers, yes
that is my view also, and experience. However, it is Swami G's abrasive
behaviour and personality, that leads me to infer she has not completely
removed all the coverings or conditioning yet herself. I say this because,
I have been in the non-dual state, and lived in it non-stop for many months,
and it is clear to me, while in that state, I could not be as aggressive and
combative towards other beings, which are in fact my very self.

If we accept the above argument, which is premised on a number of
contentions, it is clear that Swami G seems to have gone a long way to
awakening, but she has further to go - ego still remains. However, it may
be that this is not so, that she is fully awake, and yet the mystery that IS
simply manifests itself in the form that is does, as observed in her
behaviour and presentations of self. I grant her that possibility. :-)

More importantly, her behaviours are not so important, as there is a
great history of curious behaviours amongst mystics. What is important, is
does she have a transformative affect on her disciples. I do not know, as I
would need to be in her presence, to feel her energy, and to see for myself
of its Divine or otherwise nature. For clearly, just because she claims
enlightenment, does not make it so. Thus, until it is established that she
is indeed enlightened, then all her claims are simply her opinions, just
like those of any person we encounter in life.

Her kundalini may be fully active, however, that does not equate to
enlightenment. I contend it is just the beginning of awakening, which may
go on for the rest of a life time, and into others. Many of her abilities,
that she claims she used to have in the past - her siddhis, follow from an
active kundalini; thus, it is hard to determine if someone is enlightened
following from the possession of any such siddhis or displays of phenomena
generally associated with enlightenment. For it may be simply due to
kundalini activity.

This is why I would need to see for myself, to see what transformative
affect she has on others; do others awaken around her? Are there any that
claim to have awakened in correlation with being in her presence?

I have no interest in attacking her or anyone else, and simply are
interested in seeing the justification for a claim before it is accepted as
fact. Thus far, I have seen no justification, but actually cause for
dismissal. Truth be told, I am one of the most serious and diligent
aspirants to full awaken you will likely encounter, and would be most
grateful to receive the assistance of an enlightened being; however, it is
Swami G's enlightenment or lack thereof, that is to be determined. I am no
romantic, gullible fool, as it comes to the claims of others; standards for
justification and recognition must be upheld, today, as they were in the
past :-)

i will let Tanmay answer this letter but will say a degree in philosophy
means
nothing except to those who seem to think that papers equate with
experience.
So am not impressed in the least with this or your thinking that it somehow
gives
you some edge in the field.

Having had a momentary taste of what you term non-dual is quite common -
being in the high state which appears momentarily is fine and this too
passes
into a deeper state of Stillness. So you don't like my so-called abrasive
nature
in being totally honest. Maybe you might wish to read of Yogananada's
teacher
Yukteshwar - not all Enlightened Beings walk around with demeanors like you
want to think an Enlightened Being *Should* have in order to be genuine.
You
are attempting to judge with a flawed premise. There are 3 types of Jnani -
3 types of remaining - Living Awareness.

What is your reason for being on this site ? Clearly you have no intention
on
becoming a Sadhaka here - neither have you ever made any contribution
or been asked directly to do so - and since you have the opinion that there
is nothing to be gotten from this teacher (because you have many as you
adjudged enlightened mentors) you can go to - then sir you are wasting
everyones time by being here and it would be best for you to go to where
you are willing to accept help from.

Here is an excerpt from the Vivekcudamani i will leave you with and the
statement
that Every Sage will yes say nothing you haven't heard before because the
Truth
is ONE. - your book learning and studying for the philosophy degree which
you
seem to hold in such high regards may in fact be keeping you from what you
seek - why ? because it is keeping the wheel of mind engaged and spinning.

(Exceprt from the Vivekcudamani) :
He gets his food easily by begging alms, without anxiety or care. He drinks
from
the Clear Stream. He lives Unfeetered and Independent. He sleeps without
fear
in the forest or the creamation ground. (G:no matter where one is - it
matters not)
He does not need to wash or dry his clothes, for he wears none. The earth is
his
bed. he walks the highway of Vedanta. His playmate is Brahman,, the
everlasting.
(G: so this is one type of manifestation that remains)

The knower of the Atman does not identitify himself with his body. He rests
within it, as if within a carriage. If people Provide him with comforts and
luxeries, he enjoys them and plays with them like a child. He bears *no
outward mark of a *holy* man. (G: one no longer wears this mask - that is
simply another obstruction and sticking point in the journey) He remains
quite unattached to the things of this world. ( G: there is no desire to
chase
riches - relationships - nor any of the transient things - one simply plays
with what comes and is in this moment)

He may wear costly clothing or none. He may be dressed in deer or tiger skin
or
clothed in pure knowledge. He may seem like a Madman, or like a Child, or
sometimes like an Unclean Spirit. Thus he wanders the earth. ( G- you cannot
box enlightened into some cookie cutter mold of acceptable demeanor or
externalized behavior pattern)

The man of contemplation walks alone. He lives desireless amidst the objects
of
desire. The Atman is his Eternal Satisfaction. He sees the Atman present in
ALL
things.

Sometimes he appears to be a Fool, sometimes a Wise Man. Sometimes he seems
Splendid as a King, sometimes Feeble-Minded. Sometimes he is Calm and
Silent.
Sometimes he draws men to him as a python attracts it's prey. Sometimes
people
Honor him Greatly, sometimes they Insult him. Sometimes they Ignore him.
(G : there is no cookie cutter mold - and those who think there is are
buying
into some type of mis-informed spiritual illusion play) That is how the
Illumined
Soul Lives.

It goes on to speak of being content with what is - being helpless but
mighty
of power - about acting and not being bound by those actions. Appearing to
be an individual but being present in all things. About not being touched
by pleasure or pain - good or evil that is encountered. That nothing is
either good or evil to the Contemplative Sage because he has realized the
Atman and the bonds for him have fallen. Others see the body (G: or the
residule playing out of the persona echo ) and identify him with it.
Actually
he is Free from the body and every type of bondage. To him the body
(G: or the residule persona echo effects) is simply a shadow. (G: ie it has
no substance - of what is there to be concerned about with regards to this)

So sir it would behoove you to perhaps remoove the blinders of cookie cutter
mold ideas and ideals - this is a fallacy. Consciousness is beyond the
externalized
echo of form or persona. You have been attempting to relate to the echo and
shadow of transients (body - persona) rather than to that which is the
Unchanging IS.

There were those who laughed at Ashtavakra because of his mis shapen body -
whom
they adjudged couldn't be Realized - after all he was deformed. There were
those
who Hated Kabir while in life Why ? Because he was caustic - told the Truth
point
blank and challenged those who came - he pushed their buttons - put light on
their
sticking places. And yet at his death ALL wanted to claim him as one of
their lights.

May blinders be removed into what IS rather than what one thinks it should
be.
